The Floral Designer creates floral arrangements at the request of customers and fulfills necessary merchandising needs. This role involves taking floral orders in person and over the telephone, and operating as a lead with floral clerks. Key responsibilities include providing prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service, working as a team to ensure customer satisfaction, and maintaining a pleasant work environment. The designer is responsible for the department in the absence of the Manager or Assistant Manager, processing various types of floral orders (FTD, interstore, Teleflora, Internet), and managing product inventory, including caring for damaged items and replacing them as needed. They ensure the freshness of floral products throughout the shop and store, clean the floral area, and handle special product requests. The position also involves counseling customers on plant and floral care, identifying key areas for product specials, ordering flowers and supplies under the direction of the Floral Manager, and resolving customer issues. The Floral Designer must understand floral products, their care and handling, plant and flower identification, and be able to explain product requirements to customers. Additional duties include unloading trucks, placing products in appropriate storage, replenishing merchandise, and carefully wrapping flowers. The role also encompasses delivering products, offering arrangement ideas for various occasions, staying updated with industry trends, assisting with in-store events, and supporting other store areas as needed.
