About The Position

The Floral Designer at AJ's Fine Foods is responsible for executing a wide variety of tasks throughout the store, specifically maintaining and operating the produce floral department. This includes designing, cutting, and arranging live, dried, or artificial flowers, gift baskets, and foliage according to department standards. The role requires a responsible, friendly individual who can safely work in a fast-paced environment and provide excellent customer service.

Requirements

Must be 18 years of age.
Must be 21 years of age for any position that serves alcohol.

Responsibilities

Trimming material and arranging bouquets, wreaths and other items using trimmers, shapers, wire, pins, floral tape, foam and other materials.
Pricing and displaying floral products in sales cases.
Actively selling merchandise.
Informing customers about the care, maintenance and handling of various flowers, foliage, indoor plants and other items.
Advising customers of appropriate merchandise selections, conferring with customers regarding type of arrangement or plant desired.
Filling customer orders correctly and filing the names of customers and their preferences to facilitate future sales transactions.
Conferring with customers regarding price and type of arrangement desired and the date, time and place of delivery.
Planning arrangements according to client's requirements, utilizing knowledge of design and properties of materials, and selecting appropriate standard design patterns.
Following approved procedures for receiving, code dating, storing, price marking and restocking products to ensure quality, accuracy and product rotation.
Assisting in checking and verifying the produce department's products.
Taking received and prepared products to refrigerated storage, shelf and display areas.
