About The Position

The Floral Designer at Hy-Vee is responsible for providing exceptional customer service while creating floral arrangements and managing merchandising needs. This role involves assisting customers with orders, maintaining product freshness, and ensuring a pleasant shopping experience. The position requires teamwork and a commitment to customer satisfaction in a fast-paced store environment.

Requirements

• Less than High School education or six months of related work experience.
• Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions.
• Basic arithmetic skills involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
• Ability to file, post, and mail materials, and guide customers.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in a floral or retail environment.
• Knowledge of floral design and arrangement techniques.

Responsibilities

• Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions.
• Greets customers in a friendly manner and makes an effort to learn their names.
• Assists customers in locating products and loading or unloading heavy items.
• Answers the telephone promptly and provides helpful service to callers.
• Assists customers with placing orders and completes necessary paperwork.
• Prepares and replenishes floral products, including arrangements and plants.
• Waters plants and prepares daily delivery lists.
• Processes orders through FTD, Teleflora, and other systems.
• Maintains the freshness and appearance of floral products.
• Unloads trucks and organizes products in storage areas.
• Runs department registers and processes payments.
• Maintains cleanliness of the work area and adheres to hygiene guidelines.
