About The Position

The Floral Designer creates and maintains beautiful floral arrangements throughout the campus, including hotel arrangements, in-house plants, and special events. This position requires creativity, attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. The Floral Designer is expected to manage daily floral needs while also assisting with larger events and projects under the direction of the Floral Design Manager and the Director of Brand Strategy.

Requirements

  • 5 years’ experience in floral design, event coordination, or related field.
  • Strong creativity and knowledge of floral arrangements and plant care.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while adhering to budgets and deadlines.
  • Knowledge of inventory management and operational processes.
  • Able to work independently and proactively solve issues as they arise.

Responsibilities

  • Design and refresh floral displays and plants for the hotel, Trellis, Club, and other designated areas to maintain an appealing and fresh appearance.
  • Create single arrangements and large floral displays for special occasions, including guest requests and room decorations.
  • Assist in creating seasonal specials for online sales and marketing.
  • Assist or lead floral workshops as needed.
  • Work closely with the Floral Design Manager to develop and assist with event proposals and planograms for in-house and external projects.
  • Determine floral designs needed based on event type, occasion, date, and location while considering client budgets.
  • Work with external resources such as labor groups, rental companies, and wholesalers to collaborate and execute events within the budget established.
  • Collaborate with internal departments (engineering, purchasing, hotel sales, several teams) to ensure smooth execution of events.
  • Set up and dismantle floral decorations for events, ensuring adherence to timelines and budget constraints.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by consulting with clients, taking orders, and making recommendations based on preferences and budget.
  • Manage phone inquiries and communicate arrangements to guests promptly.
  • Utilize creativity and floral knowledge to select appropriate flowers and greenery that complement the occasion.
  • Maintain an understanding of flower types, their characteristics, color varieties, sizes, and costs to communicate pricing with customers.
  • Open and close the shop, as required.
  • Assist with month-end inventory processes and reporting.
  • Train on and utilize the InfoGenesis POS system, and working knowledge of Yellowdog inventory software for tracking and reporting.
  • Utilize reports to manage the business.
  • Assist with invoices, billing, and financial follow-up as requested.
  • Ensure the floral studio is clean, organized, and stocked with all necessary operational supplies.
  • Assist with installations both on and off Campus including working in the warehouse, maintaining inventory, and design work.
  • Create proposals for holiday improvements and enhancements for approval.
  • Drive the van for installations or special deliveries.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor to support overall operations.
