The Floral Department Manager sets the department standards for customer service, employee relations, cleanliness, sanitation, professional appearance, and overall profitability. This role coordinates the delivery of the freshest and best quality product at a competitive retail price. Key responsibilities include maintaining a positive attitude, fostering a friendly atmosphere, and providing prompt, courteous, and efficient service to customers. The manager is responsible for recruiting, hiring, training, supervising, disciplining, and evaluating all department employees. They also handle FTD, interstore, Teleflora, and Internet orders, determine department goals, establish weekly work schedules and daily work plans, and inspect signage and displays. Other duties involve ordering product, communicating with employees, resolving customer issues, figuring retail pricing, overseeing bookkeeping, analyzing sales trends, preparing ad projections, writing ads, conducting inventory, planning displays and promotions, and ensuring proper product storage and equipment maintenance. The manager also ensures competitive pricing, attends meetings, works in the sales area, unloads trucks, and assists in other store areas as needed. Supervisory responsibilities include instructing, assigning, reviewing, and planning work for others, maintaining standards, coordinating activities, allocating personnel, addressing employee problems, selecting new employees, approving discipline, and recommending transfers, discharges, and wage increases.
