About The Position

The Floral Clerk at Hy-Vee is responsible for providing exceptional customer service in the floral department. This role involves creating floral arrangements, assisting customers with orders, and ensuring the department is well-stocked and organized. The Floral Clerk plays a key role in enhancing the shopping experience by being friendly, efficient, and attentive to customer needs.

Requirements

• Less than High School education or six months of similar work experience.
• Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions.
• Basic arithmetic skills involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
• Ability to file, post, and mail materials, and guide customers.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in a retail or customer service environment.
• Basic knowledge of floral arrangements and products.

Responsibilities

• Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions.
• Greets customers in a friendly manner and makes an effort to learn their names.
• Assists customers by escorting them to products, securing out-of-reach items, and enhancing their shopping experience.
• Answers the telephone promptly and provides helpful service to callers.
• Assists customers with placing floral orders and completes the necessary paperwork.
• Works collaboratively with co-workers to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Prepares and replenishes floral products, including arrangements and plants.
• Waters plants and prepares daily delivery lists.
• Processes orders through FTD, Teleflora, and other systems.
• Reviews floral products for freshness and anticipates daily product needs.
• Unloads trucks and organizes products in storage areas.
• Checks in products and processes invoices as needed.
• Maintains cleanliness of the work area, including coolers and counters.
• Operates department registers and handles customer payments.
• Removes trash in a timely manner.
• Adheres to personal hygiene and dress guidelines.
• Reports to work on time and as scheduled.
