Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent education with six (6) months of current drilling experience; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
  • Must be eighteen (18) years of age.
  • English language fluency, verbal and written.
  • Acceptable results of a pre-employment background check and drug/alcohol test.

Responsibilities

  • Travel and relocate for temporary assignments as rigs move; work intermittently for extended periods with minimal time off.
  • Work on rig floor in tandem with Motorman, Derrickman, and Driller; assemble and disassemble drill pipe using ST-80 and tongs while tripping and making connections; work in tandem with rig crew and casing crew while running casing.
  • Operate boom line, air hoist/hydraulic hoists to lift and move heavy supplies, equipment, and pipe.
  • Move casing or drill pipe joints to and from pipe racks, catwalk, ramp, and rig floor as required.
  • Check mud; carry 100-pound mud sacks from storage to hopper and mix mud in hopper as directed.
  • Repair drilling machinery, pumps, and derrick; rack tools, and clean drilling floor around rig.
  • Gather drill cutting samples for geologists' review.
  • Perform routine and preventive rig servicing, repair, and maintenance, including scrubbing and painting, when operations do not require presence on rig floor.
  • Assist in erecting and dismantling rigs and associated drill site systems.
