About The Position

The Floor Technician is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming healthcare environment through specialized floor care and environmental services throughout the facility. This includes stripping and waxing, scrubbing, and buffing a variety of floor types to ensure cleanliness, safety, and appearance. In addition to floor maintenance, the technician performs waste removal duties, including the handling of infectious and hazardous waste, proper sharps disposal, removal of trash and recycling materials, and the transportation of linens to designated locations. Additionally, this position handles all cleaning of interior and exterior windows within Winona Health. Working in patient care areas, operating rooms, and public spaces, the Floor Technician strictly adheres to infection control protocols, safety standards, and HIPAA guidelines to ensure compliance and protect patient privacy and well-being.

Requirements

  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • High School/GED Equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous floor care experience, including stripping, waxing, scrubbing, and buffing various floor types, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides excellent customer service to all patients, residents, customers and co-workers.
  • Anticipates the needs and wants of those we serve.
  • Completes documentation as required.
  • Use of commercial cleaning products and chemicals.
  • Use of commercial cleaning equipment including auto-scrubbers and floor machines, squeegees, water fed poles, pressure washers and extension ladders.
  • Ability to follow standard work, standard cleaning, and disinfecting procedures.
  • Perform waste removal duties including infectious and hazardous waste, sharps disposal, recycling and trash disposal, and linen transport.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work environment.
  • Prioritizes and organizes work efficiently to meet department timelines.
  • Cleans and maintains interior and exterior windows and glass surfaces to ensure exceptional clarity, appearance, and adherence to high-quality standards.
  • Completes mandatory educational requirements of Winona Health caregivers.
  • Keeps an open mind and demonstrates a willingness to learn new methods, procedures, and techniques that embrace change.
  • Understands, supports and integrates the organization’s vision/mission/values.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
