About The Position

The Floor Technician position’s primary function is to perform a variety of tasks to keep the buildings and living spaces clean and orderly condition. In addition, this position performs heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, shampooing rugs and removing rubbish.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in maintenance, carpentry, electrical work, lawn care or related field.
  • Ability to understand, observe, and enforce infection control procedures related to facility services.
  • Ability to observe all facility safety policies and procedures.
  • Ability to understand and recognize potential physical, chemical, and electrical hazards and take immediate corrective action as appropriate.
  • Ability to understand and enforce the Exposure Control Plan as this position risks occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens and other infectious material as an essential function of the job.
  • Ability to safeguard the privacy of Residents’ health information.
  • Ability to speak and read English and follow oral and written directions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public, residents, and staff.
  • Ability to use desktop or laptop computers; the ability to use the designated facility computer system (or systems) at a proficient level.
  • Ability to operate mechanical devices and equipment such as, but not limited to, floor machines, buffing machines, walk-behind vacuums, and walk-behind shampooers.
  • Ability to perform other related duties as directed by administration.
  • Ability to stand, stoop, stretch, crawl, crouch, kneel, balance, finger, grasp, push, pull, reach, or walk.
  • Ability to lift moving objects from a lower to higher position or moving objects along a horizontal level but from position to position. This includes lifting and carrying weights in the 35-to-50-pound range.
  • Ability to exert force upon an object in order to draw, drag or tug objects toward the source of the force in a sustained motion.
  • Ability to drive a truck or other designated vehicle used to transport items to and from all McCrite Plaza facilities.
  • Must attend staff meetings, in-service classes, and committee meetings as assigned or required.
  • This position requires vaccination against COVID-19, as detailed in the Company’s Mandatory COVID-19 Vaccination Policy.

Responsibilities

  • Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing or vacuuming; this includes common areas, stairwells, apartments and other areas requested by management.
  • Strip, seal, finish and polish floors.
  • Gather and empty trash.
  • Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
  • Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications.
  • Notify management concerning the need for major repairs.
  • Inspect, operate, or test machinery or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions or work with contractors to diagnose issues.
  • Set-up tables and chairs as needed for activities and events.
  • Clean upholstered furniture as needed.
  • Conduct deep cleaning procedures for apartments after residents vacate the premises.
  • Read work orders to receive instructions and to determine work requirements.
  • Listen to and respond to questions and concerns from residents, families, or staff regarding apartments, facility, grounds, etc.
  • Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Perform other related duties as needed to ensure the operation of the facility or as directed by the Housekeeping Supervisor.
  • Attend staff meetings, in-service classes, and committee meetings as assigned or required.
