Meritus Health is seeking a dedicated Floor Care Technician to join our Environmental Services team. This role plays a vital part in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our patients, visitors, and staff. About the Role As a Floor Care Technician, you will be responsible for the cleanliness and maintenance of floors throughout the medical center. Your work ensures a sanitary, attractive, and safe environment across patient rooms, public areas, clinical spaces, and specialized areas such as MRI. You’ll perform a variety of floor care and general housekeeping duties, including:

Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of one year of floor care experience required
  • Skills: Strong customer service and communication
  • Ability to read and follow detailed instructions
  • Physical Requirements: Frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, pushing/pulling, and lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Occasional lifting over 50 lbs
  • Ability to concentrate on detailed tasks and manage multiple responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Provide scheduled floor care, including: Dry and wet mopping Stripping and waxing floors Buffing Carpet shampooing Shower scrubbing (“Responsible for cleanliness of medical center floors in all areas. Includes: dry and wet mopping, stripping and waxing, carpet shampooing and shower scrubbing.”)
  • Maintain adequate supplies and assist with product selection.
  • Perform routine maintenance on floor equipment and report issues beyond your ability.
  • Clean and disinfect all assigned areas, including patient rooms, public spaces, restrooms, utility rooms, and equipment. (“Properly cleans and disinfects all surfaces in assigned area as defined by departmental policies and procedures.”)
  • Remove infectious and non-infectious waste according to procedures.
  • Assist in training fellow housekeeping staff.
