About The Position

Assists the Director of Environmental Services in maintaining a clean, safe, sanitary, and comfortable environment throughout the facility. Responsible for the care and upkeep of all facility flooring, including routine cleaning, stripping, waxing, and buffing to maintain appearance, safety, and durability. Performs all duties in compliance with current federal, state, and local regulations, as well as facility policies and established procedures.

Requirements

  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision while maintaining timely schedule.
  • Ability to read and understand chemical warnings on all supplies associated with the job and familiar with MSDS locations for products used.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, with residents/patients, staff, and family members.
  • Must exhibit patience and a positive attitude towards the elderly population and a desire to provide a service to the community.
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, stoop, bend, and reach for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds frequently (up to 66% of the time spent in performance of duties) and up to 50 pounds occasionally (up to 33% of the time spent in performance of duties).
  • Ability to work with chemical cleaning agents, sprays, and disinfectants as needed.
  • Manual dexterity that allows grasping, carrying, and holding cleaning equipment and supplies as needed to perform tasks.
  • Requires a satisfactory general background check, including state and local criminal history checks, as well as a satisfactory drug screening.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a regular schedule for stripping, waxing, and buffing all facility floors.
  • Clean and maintain floor edges and baseboards throughout the facility.
  • Communicate closely with the Director of Environmental Services to ensure areas are properly prepared for scheduled floor maintenance.
  • Notify specific units in advance of any maintenance work to be conducted.
  • Monitor supply levels and provide the Director of Environmental Services with a list of materials needed to ensure tasks can be completed in a timely manner.
  • Keep all equipment clean and in good working condition; report any equipment issues promptly.
  • Attend required meetings, conferences, and in-service training sessions.
  • Maintain resident confidentiality, uphold Residents’ Rights, and interact with residents in a kind, respectful, and dignified manner.
  • Maintain confidentiality of facility policies, procedures, personnel matters, and any other sensitive information, sharing only what is necessary for completion of job duties.
  • Assistance with moving furniture and prepping work areas for maintenance.
  • Other duties as assigned.
