About The Position

The Flock Services Technician is responsible for the safe and ethical handling, transportation, and care of birds at layer facilities. This role involves various tasks related to bird transfer, cleaning, and maintenance of poultry houses, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. The technician plays a crucial role in maintaining bird welfare and facility hygiene.

Requirements

0-2 years of general work experience
Physical ability to push heavy carts and perform strenuous cleaning tasks
Understanding of basic biosecurity principles
Ability to work overtime, weekends and holiday hours as required based on production demand
Willingness to work in various climate conditions, including extreme temperatures

Nice To Haves

High School Diploma or GED
Previous experience in poultry handling or animal husbandry
Knowledge of poultry welfare best practices
Familiarity with farm equipment and cleaning tools
Basic record-keeping skills
Bilingual in English and Spanish

Responsibilities

Safely transfer birds between houses and facilities, including loading and unloading
Remove birds from cages and load them into carts for transport
Clean and sanitize equipment and bird houses using power washers and air compressors
Vaccinate birds as required
Assist in the process of removing spent hens from facilities
Ensure ethical treatment of livestock in accordance with USDA, FDA, and other regulatory standards
Push loaded carts (up to 800 pounds) for distances of 500 feet or more
Perform thorough cleaning of bird houses, removing feed, eggs, feathers, and manure
Maintain accurate records of bird transfers and cleaning activities
Other duties as assigned
