About The Position

The Floating Teaching Assistant at Little Praisers Preschool and Child Care plays a vital role in providing loving care and a Christian education to children aged 6 weeks to 12 years. This position involves substituting for various staff roles, maintaining a nurturing classroom environment, and ensuring the safety and well-being of the children. The assistant will work collaboratively with the preschool staff and administration to support the educational mission of the organization.

Requirements

  • Minimum age of 18 and possession of a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred minimum of one year of experience in an early childhood setting and 1-2 years of early childhood education, or willingness to work toward completion of requirements for the CDA certification.
  • Comprehensive understanding and knowledge of children, including their behavior, development, and age-appropriate activities.
  • Current certifications in Child Abuse Prevention training, Safe Sleep training, and New Employee Orientation must be obtained before beginning employment.
  • Capacity to maintain strict confidentiality concerning personal information related to children, families, and staff.
  • Willingness to learn and work under the guidance and supervision of the classroom teacher.
  • Experience with word processing and multi-line phone systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively substitute for any position as needed, including covering staff breaks and filling in for absences.
  • Maintain a clean and organized classroom before and after daily activities.
  • Build positive relationships with each child, fostering a nurturing learning environment.
  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date classroom documentation, such as attendance and incident reports.
  • Work collaboratively with administration, the Preschool Director, and all staff.
  • Handle emergency situations appropriately, prioritizing the safety of the children.
  • Attend staff meetings, in-service training, and recommended workshops.
  • Assist with other tasks as needed or assigned.
