About The Position

The Floating Preschool Assistant Teacher at YWCA Central Massachusetts is responsible for managing ongoing programming in assigned classrooms in a professional and confidential manner. The role incorporates a developmental and culturally sensitive philosophy to create an inclusive learning environment, ensuring the highest quality of care for children. Compliance with the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) standards and Department of Early Education and Care (DEEC), as well as Massachusetts health and safety regulations, is essential. The position requires working Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM.

Requirements

• Minimum of 18 years of age.
• Ability to work with families and children of diverse cultural backgrounds.
• Ability to relate with co-workers/parents in a cooperative and positive manner.
• Solid computer skills.
• DEEC Preschool Teacher qualified preferred.
• Willingness to enroll in an Associate Early Childhood Education (ECE) degree program.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, implementing, and maintaining Teaching Strategies Gold.
• Create an environment where children can learn and grow at their own pace.
• Supervise children in play and structured activities.
• Maintain a safe and clean environment for children; perform light housekeeping duties as needed.
• Greet parents daily and communicate information only as requested by the supervisor.
• Assist in preparing and maintaining classroom records as requested.
• Attend scheduled staff meetings and maintain Health and Safety, CPR, and First Aid certification.
• Complete all required training each year as required by DEEC and QRIS.
• Develop and follow the Annual Individual Professional Development Plan (IPDP).
• Maintain EEC Professional Qualifications (PQ) Registry.
• Cover planning and lunch breaks for staff.
• Maintain student/teacher ratios at all times.
• Perform other duties as requested.
