About the position

The Floating Pharmacist is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Pharmacy department while floating to assigned stores within the area. This role includes assisting in the training and development of subordinate staff, estimating personnel needs, assigning work, and ensuring the consistent application of organizational policies. The pharmacist relies on experience and professional judgment to plan and accomplish assigned tasks and goals, ensuring adherence to the Kinney Standard of Practice for the highest quality health care service to customers.

Responsibilities

  • Follows the Kinney Standard of Practice to dispense prescriptions and counsel patients.
  • Performs all quality assurance steps to ensure a technically accurate prescription is dispensed.
  • Reports dispensing incidents in a timely manner, in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Follows all State and Federal guidelines governing the practice of Pharmacy.
  • Oversees the initial submission, resubmission and collection of all third party claims.
  • Manages and balances the pharmacy inventory to provide for maximum turns while remaining in-stock for customer needs.
  • Oversees the transmitting, processing and receiving of orders to and from the Kinney Warehouse and additional suppliers as needed.
  • Oversees the checking of pharmacy inventory for outdates and processing of all returns.
  • Ensures prescription files and other manual records are maintained in accordance with all state and federal guidelines.
  • Ensures in-store pharmacy technology is being used to its fullest potential.
  • Ensures outstanding customer service is exhibited by all employees at all times.
  • Ensures all loss Prevention policies are followed by all employees and reports deviations from said policies to Loss Prevention.
  • Assists in the implementation of all corporate pharmacy marketing, advertising and promotional programs.
  • Oversees the maintenance of the pharmacy department to ensure a clean and professional environment.
  • Maintains and develops professional relationships with doctors and others in the health service professions.
  • Maintains an awareness of developments in the Pharmacy and Health Care Services fields.
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding all patient information.
  • Facilitates communication between professional staff and pharmacy personnel.
  • Assists in meeting or exceeding budgetary sales guidelines.
  • Assists in the training and development of all pharmacy department personnel.
  • Interfaces with various auditors and outside agencies, as needed.
  • Responsible for completing all mandatory and regulatory training programs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Possess and maintain a valid State License and current registration to practice Pharmacy.
  • Ability to stand/walk throughout the majority of the shift.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment and/or random drug screening test.
  • Certified Immunizer.
  • Must be able to travel between stores to cover within an assigned area as scheduled.
