About The Position

The Floating Maintenance Mechanic is a key member of our maintenance team, responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining mobile equipment across both the Acorn and Liberty poultry processing facilities. This role focuses heavily on mobile machinery—including pallet jacks, forklifts, and other powered industrial vehicles, while also supporting general plant maintenance needs as required. This position is float-based, meaning the mechanic will work between both plants depending on operational needs. Shift schedules may vary, including mid‑day shifts designed to overlap with both 1st and 2nd shift operations.

Requirements

  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
  • Experience repairing forklifts, pallet jacks, or other industrial mobile equipment preferred.
  • Ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, and work orders
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts and travel between plants
  • Strong commitment to safety and company policies
  • Comfortable working in a poultry processing environment, including cold or wet conditions

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain mobile equipment such as electric and manual pallet jacks, forklifts, and any other mobile machinery needed.
  • Perform preventive maintenance to reduce downtime and extend equipment life
  • Conduct safety inspections and ensure all mobile equipment meets OSHA and company standards.
  • Maintenance accurate records or repairs, parts usage, and maintenance activities
  • Assist with major breakdowns within the plant, including equipment teardown, setup, and reassembly.
  • Support maintenance teams during high priority or emergency repairs
  • Collaborate with production and maintenance supervisors to prioritize work orders
  • Perform general mechanical tasks as needed, similar to a traditional industrial maintenance mechanic.
