About The Position

The Floating Logistics Supervisor at Siemens is responsible for overseeing the Shipping and Receiving Department at the La Mirada Distribution Center. This role involves managing a team of 10-15 hourly union employees, ensuring efficient operations, meeting daily output targets, and maintaining safety and quality standards. The supervisor will engage with employees, provide feedback, and foster a positive work environment while addressing any employee relations concerns.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in Business, Supply Chain Management, or Logistics Management.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of successful experience as an Operation Manager/Supervisor in a large distribution facility.
  • Extensive knowledge of SAP preferred but not required.
  • Microsoft Office experience required (PPT, Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Lean certification, specifically Kaizen or 5S certifications.
  • Experience managing an organized union environment.
  • Experience in a fast-paced warehouse environment.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate bottlenecks in the operation daily and determine labor needs to sustain positive performance across the assigned shift.
  • Ensure all Time and Attendance records are maintained daily/weekly, including weekly attendance summaries for all personnel.
  • Provide weekly/daily/monthly feedback to all employees regarding Production and Quality progression.
  • Enforce all job rules regarding code of conduct and the general guidelines of the facility, including progressive discipline.
  • Create a positive working environment that motivates employees and enhances productivity.
  • Provide Pre-Shift and End of Shift numbers regarding shift performance versus the daily plan.
  • Collaborate with team members to standardize operational processes across each shift to enforce process discipline.
  • Spend 75% of time on the floor providing support to personnel and managing process flow within the department.
  • Provide formal handoff to the oncoming shift including notes regarding WIP, 5S housekeeping, and Inventory reconciliation issues.
  • Collaborate with the team to improve operational processes through Continuous Improvement activities.
  • Mitigate conflict within the team prior to exploring the Chain of Command, involving the department manager after conflict resolution.
  • Enforce all work rules in the facility timely and fairly as infractions occur.
  • Provide documented feedback to personnel bi-annually.
  • Drive ownership culture among the workforce and foster a positive, energetic, and collaborative environment.
  • Enforce health, environmental, and safety standards, work practices, and housekeeping.
  • Manage other duties as assigned by management.
