About The Position

In anticipation of filling the position for the 2024-2025 school year, we are accepting applications for a floater and after-school (BASE) assistant for staff passionate about supporting students and teachers in a bilingual Children's House environment. Our staff demonstrates enthusiasm, a supportive attitude, and a love for learning. Join us! LAMB is seeking to hire an enthusiastic team member to support students in a unique position as a BASE Instructor in LAMB's after-school program and as a Floater during the regular school day. In this role, you will support teachers and students at the Children's House level. Experience working in a Montessori setting is preferred. The applicant must be willing to receive professional development in Montessori practices and implement Montessori approaches to learning, discipline, and environmental management. Requirements

  • Native Spanish speaker or bilingual (Spanish/English).
  • Extensive experience working in early childhood programs and/or experience in dual-language education.
  • Ability to work with students of diverse abilities, including those with identified exceptionalities.
  • Experience with Google Workspace (preferred).
  • Meet health requirements, including vaccinations and TB screening.
  • Strong commitment to supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion and fostering an anti-racist school environment.
  • Models critical thinking and student-centered practice with skills in standards and data analysis to inform curriculum planning for high-impact results.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain fidelity to LAMB’s Dual Language Assignment Plan.
  • Assist in preparing Montessori and other materials for all areas of the environment (organizing, labeling, laminating, cutting, hole-punching, stapling, etc.).
  • Provide coverage and academic support.
  • Cover classrooms at the Children's House level, special teachers, and occasionally for lower and upper elementary levels if needed.
  • Support environmental management (e.g., moving around the room, reminding students of expectations as determined by the guide, modeling calm walking and body posture, assisting with conflict resolution, implementing limited options, etc.).
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to support the delivery of the Montessori curriculum in Spanish at the Children's House level and maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Support a classroom culture demonstrating principles of bilingual literacy, grace and courtesy, and PEACE (positive words, respectful actions, learning zone).
  • Actively and positively participate in LAMB’s coaching culture and work to achieve personal and professional goals.
  • Attend and participate in regular meetings (BASE, training sessions, floater team meetings).
  • Participate in all scheduled professional development sessions to ensure continuous education and professional growth.
  • Meet with the director and/or supervisor to develop solutions for any issues involving parents, staff, or the school, as needed.
  • Support school safety and assist with arrival/dismissal procedures, lunch, recess, and nap coverage as assigned and needed.
  • Attend and participate in International Day and two other school events outside the school day, such as Back-to-School Night, Graduation/Promotion Celebration, family workshops, family engagement events, and student learning celebrations.
  • Manage professional development regarding the use of technology and educational platforms (Google Suite, Paycom, etc.).
  • Embody the Montessori philosophy of Grace and Courtesy and LAMB’s PEACE ideals in all relationships: with students, colleagues, families, and other community members.
  • Embrace and foster student belonging and inclusion in the classroom by modeling and maintaining high expectations for all students and practicing grace and courtesy in addition to our PEACE values.
  • Arrive and begin work on time and be punctual for arrivals, meetings, transitions, and departure.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Develop and lead engaging activities for students from PK3 to fifth grade.
  • Be an energetic, engaged, and positive role model at all times.
  • Implement and participate in scheduled projects and special events.
  • Maintain a daily schedule, classroom rules, equipment and supply maintenance, and record-keeping.
  • Oversee the cleaning and organization of program supplies and spaces.
  • Participate in all scheduled staff meetings and professional development.
  • Supervise student activities, recess, and enrichment classes.
  • Support student arrival/dismissal for BASE daily.
