About The Position

The Floater CDL Driver plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient and timely transportation of goods across various routes. This position requires flexibility to operate commercial vehicles, adapting to varying schedules and delivery demands. The primary goal is to maintain high standards of safety, compliance, and customer service while supporting the logistics network. The driver will be responsible for managing loads, navigating routes, and coordinating with dispatch to optimize delivery efficiency. Ultimately, this role contributes to the seamless flow of supply chain operations by providing reliable and versatile driving services. This position will be needed to adapt their driving skills between transporting young live poults from farm to farm, full sized turkeys from farm to plant, feed hauling from mill to farms and local shuttles from plant as far as to Winchester with loaded raw product. Driver must be able to drive in other states including PA, NC, WV, and VA.

Requirements

  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A appropriate for the vehicle class operated.
  • Clean driving record with no major violations in the past three years.
  • Ability to pass DOT physical examination and drug screening.
  • Proven experience operating commercial vehicles safely and responsibly.
  • Knowledge of federal and state transportation regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a floater or multi-route driver within a logistics or transportation company.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to interact professionally with clients.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge for minor vehicle troubleshooting.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including days, nights and weekends.
  • Transportation of live animals, preferably poultry

Responsibilities

  • Operate commercial vehicles safely and efficiently across multiple routes as assigned.
  • Ensuring proper handling and securing of freight.
  • Adhere to all federal, state, and local transportation regulations and company policies.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch and logistics teams to coordinate schedules and resolve issues.
  • Perform routine vehicle inspections and report any maintenance or safety concerns promptly.
  • Maintain accurate records of driving hours, mileage, and delivery documentation.
  • Adapt to changing assignments and routes with flexibility and professionalism.
