About The Position

A large acute-care hospital in the Gainesville, Florida area is seeking a Float Pool Registered Nurse (RN) to support multiple Medical-Surgical units. This role requires flexibility, strong clinical judgment, and the ability to adapt quickly to varying unit workflows and patient populations. The Float Pool RN delivers high-quality, patient-centered care while floating between Med-Surg units as staffing needs require.

Requirements

• 1 year of current acute care Medical-Surgical RN experience REQUIRED
• Must be currently working in a Med-Surg setting
• Only Medical-Surgical experience accepted
• Comfortable with a 7:1 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Flexibility to float between multiple units
• Active Florida RN license or approved multistate license
• Compact license holders must obtain Florida licensure within 60 days of relocation
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
• BLS certification required within 30 days of start
• AHCA Level 2 background screening and fingerprinting required

Responsibilities

• Advocate for patients and families while maintaining privacy and confidentiality
• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and develop individualized care plans
• Deliver plan-based nursing care focused on quality and continuous improvement
• Float between multiple Medical-Surgical units based on operational needs
