Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia or has a Compact license.
• Required minimum of three years of acute care experience with demonstrated and proven competency in several specialty areas.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Float throughout the facility to all the units within your scope of practice, including ICUs, Telemetry Units, Medical/Surgical Units, and Behavioral Health.
• Provide clinical and administrative support on the unit.
• Work closely with the clinical team to create and implement a care plan that meets each patient's needs.
• Coordinate unit activities and assure accountability of all assigned tasks.
• Instruct and educate patients and their family members.
• Administer all prescribed medications utilizing the 5 rights to medication administration.
• Change dressings, clean wounds, and monitor vital signs.
• Monitor, record, and communicate patient conditions as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems.
• Serve as the primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care, including patients' discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
