About The Position

Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is hiring a Patient Care Tech (PCT) for the Float Pool. This is a full time, night shift position in Charlottesville, VA. The Central Float Pool at Sentara Martha Jefferson is hospital specific and involves floating to units with additional need due to either acuity or staffing. Primarily assigned to IMCU or Medical/Surgical units, this unit offers training and precepting on the ICU and ED for those who wish to move into more critical care areas. This Central Float Pool is ideal for those who enjoy variety or are interested in learning new skills. Patient Care Technicians are unlicensed staff members who are accountable to, and work under the direct supervision of a professional nurse to implement delegated aspects of nursing care. They provide patient care, support the admissions and discharge process, comply with patient safety practices, and observe patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions, reporting any changes to the nursing staff.

Requirements

• HS – High School Grad or Equivalent
• One of the following programs: Sentara Care Partner Certification Program, successful completion of the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), National Patient Care Technician (NCPCT), completion of US Navy Hospital Corps School, Emergency Services to include EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT and Paramedic, or current student enrolled in a clinical program having completed at least one semester of a (RN, LPN, RT or PT) or current work experience within last three years as a PCT or Nursing Assistant
• AHA BLS certification within 90 days of hire

Nice To Haves

• 2 years of experience is preferred (due to the advanced level of practice)
• One year of health care experience is preferred
