Collins Aerospace is looking to fill several Flight Test Mechanic positions to support the G400 Flight Test program in Savannah, Georgia. The Flight Test Mechanic will primarily perform nacelle structural retrofits, repairs, and rework for hardware at Gulfstream’s Savannah facilities The position is working onsite at our Savannah, GA facility What You Will Do Perform repairs / rework on Collins Aerospace nacelle products (Inlet Cowls, Fan Cowls, Thrust Reversers, Aprons, and Engine Build Up) to support the G400 flight test program. Performs assembly operations and processes. Assembles & fabricates sheet metal. Reads blueprints, follows written and verbal instructions, and performs basic math calculations. Works in a team environment, participates in compliance inspection continuous improvement (CI) activities. Uses basic hand tools, drills, power tools, and measuring equipment to complete tasks Drills holes, installs fasteners, route, and trims parts, and applies primers and sealants. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Typically requires an AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience
  • 4 or more years of experience in manufacturing, assembly, and/or construction/facilities
  • Experience with hand tools, electrical tools, hand cutters, measuring equipment, light equipment, drill motors and air-powered tools
  • Ability to read and follow detailed written instructions
  • Prior experience working in an aircraft manufacturing or operations environment.
  • Ability to mix, apply, and work around sealants, solvents, paints, and chemicals per specification requirements.
  • Self-directed & action-oriented with the ability to work in a team environment to resolve most questions and problems.
  • Willingness to learn and develop skills and knowledge
  • Ability to bend, stoop, squat, sit, twist, and work above head height for various periods of time during the workday.
  • Ability to work in various conditions, including on ladders, lifts, and on aircraft using harnesses.
  • Ability to wear PPE as provided and required for job tasks.
  • Ability to work extended hours, including alternate shifts and weekends, to support the flight test schedule.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%.

Nice To Haves

  • Aviation structural experience
  • Familiar with Nacelle components and their operation.
  • Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, and engineering drawings to assemble equipment.
  • Composite repair experience

Responsibilities
