As an early-career to mid-level Flight Test Instrumentation Engineer at Skyryse you will work within the experimental flight test team to develop, test, install and integrate a wide variety of sensors and data systems on the aircraft for the purpose of gathering flight test data.

  • Support the development of flight test campaigns using rapid prototyping equipment such as dSpace, LabView, or similar
  • Collaborate with discipline engineers to determine requirements for measurements for flight test data
  • Specify required sensors based on the required measurements, interpret ICD's and specifications, and design the hardware and software integration of the sensor into the flight test aircraft
  • Design integrated flight test installations onboard aircraft, including required engineering documentation
  • Install, calibrate, and maintain the sensor suite onboard the flight test aircraft
  • Participate in flight tests as an onboard crew member
  • Maintain data pipeline, data integrity, organization of flight test data, and post-test data visualization tools
  • Ensure instrumentation is within calibration and maintain traceability of that calibration
  • Work within MATLAB / SIMULINK to model various sensors and to analyze, and process flight test data
  • Troubleshoot common hardware and software integration issues
  • Troubleshoot common communication protocols including RS-232, CAN, UDP, etc.
  • Lead process improvements within the flight test instrumentation discipline
  • Creating instrumentation wiring diagrams and block diagrams
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other related disciplines.
  • 2+ years of professional working experience
  • Experience with sensors and data acquisition
  • Familiarity with dSpace, LabView Equipment or equivalent
  • Familiarity with MATLAB and SIMULINK or equivalent
  • Programming experience, including Python and C++
  • Master of Science Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other related disciplines
  • Experience designing, integrating, and operating complex flight test data systems or sensor suites on aircraft
  • Prior start up working experience
  • 5+ years of professional working experience
  • Strong hands-on experience
  • Salary: $100,000 - $140,000
