About The Position

Utah State University is seeking motivated Certified Flight Instructors and Certified Flight Instructor - Instruments (CFIIs) for its Rotor-Wing program in Logan, UT. The role involves providing flight and ground instruction in compliance with FAA regulations and ensuring that students meet training objectives and standards. Instructors will be full-time employees responsible for student flights, maintaining records, and developing curriculum as needed.

Requirements

  • FAA Certified Flight Instructor
  • 400 hours in Helicopters
  • 200 flight instruction hours
  • SFAR 73 R22 Teaching Endorsement
  • Completion of Robinson Safety Course
  • Current FAA Class II Medical Certificate
  • Certified Flight Instructor-Instrument (CFII) rating

  • 75 hours Instrument (Actual or Simulated)
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • SFAR 73 R44 Teaching Endorsement
  • 25 Hours in an R44
  • G-430 experience
  • Familiarity with USU handbook, SOP's, and Flightlogger-Systems
  • Collegiate or 141 experience
  • 80% initial pass rate for check rides over the last 24 months

Responsibilities

  • Perform flight instructor duties as authorized by Federal Aviation Regulations according to the approved Training Course Outline.
  • Ensure students understand and adhere to Utah State University's program handbook and safety protocols.
  • Schedule students regularly to monitor progress and report any delays to the supervisor.
  • Maintain accurate records in Talon-systems, including student training records and endorsements.
  • Ensure students meet course standards and training requirements as outlined in the Training Course Outline.
  • Initiate stage check requests for assigned students.
  • Oversee timely course completion for all assigned flight students, including necessary paperwork.
  • Recommend improvements to curriculum and courseware, and assist in developing new training materials as assigned.
  • File safety reports for any observed safety violations or concerns affecting flight safety.
  • Engage with potential new students and conduct facility tours to familiarize them with USU and its flight training programs.
  • Attend administrative and training meetings as assigned.
