The Flight Instructor position at Florida Tech involves delivering professional flight instruction in a CFR 141 environment, utilizing a detailed training syllabus. Instructors are responsible for teaching various flight-related courses, ensuring the safe operation of aircraft, and assessing student proficiency while maintaining confidentiality regarding sensitive information.

  • Deliver quality flight instruction in accordance with a detailed training syllabus.
  • Teach flight-related courses including private, instrument, commercial, and multi-engine.
  • Conduct CFI/CFII ground schools and aviation safety training.
  • Ensure the safe operation of aircraft during flight instruction.
  • Assess and report on student proficiency to the Assistant Chief Instructor.
  • Maintain an 80% student pass rate on first attempt and an 80% completion rate per semester.
  • Pass standardization and proficiency checks throughout tenure with FITA.
  • Provide excellent customer service to student pilots.
  • Communicate effectively with students and develop teaching methods.
  • Hold a CFI position and earn a CFII within 60 days of hire.
  • Possess a CFI, CFII, and MEI for the MEI position.
  • Have an Associate's degree or equivalent credit from an accredited college.
  • Be able to pass and maintain a FAA 1st or 2nd class medical exam.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work with individuals from diverse cultures.
  • Proven results-oriented and self-motivated work style.
  • Experience with the Federal Aviation Authority Safety Team.
  • Participation in Civil Air Patrol or National Intercollegiate Flight Association (NIFA) competition.
