About The Position

The FLIGHT DECK Development Programs Leader owns the strategy and execution of role-based development programs and communities that translate FLIGHT DECK expectations into practical skills for Plant Leaders, Front-Line Leaders, Value Stream roles, Quality roles, and other critical roles. This people leader manages a team of FLIGHT DECK Program Managers and coordination roles to design, deploy, and continuously improve multi-modal development journeys and communities—including explicit ownership of the Plant Leader Community operating cadence and leadership forums. The role partners closely with the FLIGHT DECK Capability Development Leader, Learning Designers, the FLIGHT DECK SteerCo, talent management, and business leaders to ensure programs drive measurable outcomes tied to Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree accredited college or university
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in development program management, capability-building, or related roles in complex organizations
  • Must be willing and able to travel up to 50%
  • Must reside within 40 miles of a major US Airport

Responsibilities

  • Set the strategy and multi-quarter roadmap for role-based development programs and communities (including the Plant Leader Community and FLIGHT DECK leader-focused forums), aligned to enterprise priorities and SQDC outcomes
  • Lead a team of Program Managers and coordinators to plan, build, deploy, and sustain multi-modal programs (asynchronous, virtual, in-person, practice-based learning, coaching/mentoring)
  • Translate FLIGHT DECK expectations into role-specific capabilities and learning objectives; define proficiency ladders, practice, and assessments across key roles
  • Own the operating cadence for the Plant Leader Community and related forums; plan agendas, curate content, manage speakers/facilitators, and publish follow-ups
  • Partner with Learning Designers to create scalable, digitally enabled content, performance support, and facilitator enablement materials
  • Establish standard work for program operations: intake/prioritization, release management, calendar and capacity planning, communications, and change management
  • Run stakeholder operating mechanisms (SteerCo, plant and functional leaders, HR/talent) to align priorities, resources, risks, and outcomes
  • Define and report leading/lagging indicators (adoption, proficiency, on-the-job application, role-specific outcomes) and drive continuous improvement
  • Coordinate enterprise deployment and localization across sites/regions; ensure accessibility, quality, and consistency of the learner experience
  • Manage vendor/platform partnerships as needed (e.g., LMS/LXP, analytics, coaching partners); ensure data integrity and compliance
  • Build team capability: set objectives, coach performance, and foster a culture of customer focus and continuous improvement
