About The Position

The Flexo Press Operator position at RRD offers a night shift premium of an additional $3.00/hour, with shifts from 7pm to 7am following a 2 day on, 2 day off schedule. This is a 12-hour shift role that includes rotating weekends. A sign-on bonus of $2,000 is available for new hires. The position involves setting up, adjusting, operating, and maintaining various press equipment. Responsibilities include performing all make-ready tasks associated with the type of press operated, such as hanging plates or installing cylinders, examining plates/cylinders for imperfections, and checking for correct positioning of images. The operator will also be responsible for making necessary color corrections and/or press adjustments prior to production runs to meet quality specifications, as well as cleaning, lubricating, and maintaining the press, making minor repairs, and performing periodic maintenance as recommended by the manufacturer. Training other RRD employees may also be required.

Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of offset printing procedures, materials, specifications, equipment, and safety requirements.
  • Skill to read and understand job specifications and knowledge of press capabilities.
  • Ability to determine the most appropriate press usage, press settings, and materials needed to run the job successfully.
  • Skill to make a variety of difficult precise settings of controls, settings, and adjustments.
  • Ability to perform routine operational maintenance of equipment.
  • Knowledge of the appropriate amount of packing pressure needed for the type of job being run.
  • Skill in the use of a micrometer to mount and align the printing plate correctly.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, adjust, operate, and maintain a number of press equipment.
  • Perform all make-ready tasks associated with the type of press operated, such as hanging plates or installing cylinders.
  • Examine plates/cylinders for imperfections and check for correct positioning of images.
  • Prep blankets, adjust tension and register.
  • Make necessary color corrections and/or press adjustments prior to production run.
  • Clean, lubricate, and maintain the press, making minor repairs and replacing worn or broken parts as required.
  • Perform periodic maintenance recommended by the manufacturer.
  • Train other RRD employees as needed.
