About The Position

We are seeking a driven and adaptable Flex Production Supervisor to provide leadership and operational oversight across our RAW, RTE (Ready-to-Eat), and TP departments as business needs require at our Grand Rapids location. This role plays a critical part in ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant production operations while maintaining the highest standards of employee safety, food safety, product quality, and performance. The Flex Supervisor steps into open supervisory assignments due to vacation, leave, vacancy, or special projects and must be ready to lead immediately. This is a high-visibility leadership position ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced manufacturing environments and enjoys solving operational challenges.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of supervisory experience in food manufacturing (RAW or RTE experience preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of food safety standards, HACCP, and regulatory compliance
  • Experience leading hourly production teams
  • Demonstrated success improving safety, quality, and productivity metrics
  • Ability to work flexible schedules as production coverage requires

Responsibilities

  • Execute daily production schedules to meet throughput and labor targets
  • Monitor KPIs and implement countermeasures when performance gaps arise
  • Maintain strong plant floor presence and real-time operational oversight
  • Optimize labor utilization, minimize waste, and drive cost control
  • Ensure seamless cross-department coordination
  • Supervise hourly production employees when assigned
  • Enforce company policies and performance standards
  • Conduct performance evaluations and administer progressive discipline as needed
  • Train, coach, and develop employees for skill growth and cross-functional flexibility
  • Support onboarding and maintain accurate training documentation
  • Champion a safety-first culture
  • Enforce PPE compliance and safe equipment operation
  • Oversee Lockout/Tagout training and audits
  • Lead emergency procedure compliance (evacuation, tornado, etc.)
  • Immediately stop unsafe acts or equipment
  • Ensure compliance with HACCP, USDA, and internal food safety standards
  • Conduct quarterly food safety training
  • Review HACCP logs and documentation
  • Lead corrective actions for deviations
  • Ensure products meet all quality and consistency specifications
  • Drive improvements in: Employee Safety Food Safety Product Quality Waste Reduction Labor Efficiency Throughput & Cost Control
  • Lead improvement initiatives and sustain gains through follow-up
