About The Position

The Flex Master Lab Tech position involves providing problem-solving work in various areas, often dealing with complex issues that are less defined than those faced by less senior technicians. The role requires direct contact with all plant personnel and primarily takes place in laboratory areas, necessitating superior physical, mental, and visual attention. Occasionally, special safety equipment may be required for entry into hazardous manufacturing areas. The technician must be trained and knowledgeable in the appropriate disposal and handling of RCRA hazardous wastes in accordance with regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • A college science degree is preferred, although suitable experience may be substituted.
  • Two (2) years' experience as a Senior Lab Technician or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated initiative and self-starting abilities.
  • Ability to handle complex non-routine tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated advanced problem-solving skills.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and write new procedures or revise old procedures with minimal supervision.
  • Detailed knowledge of both laboratory equipment and plant operations.

Responsibilities

  • All responsibilities of Senior-level Laboratory technician
  • Complete assigned jobs on time in a proper manner.
  • Assure accurate completion of tests to minimize retests on the same sample.
  • Understand and follow lab and company policies.
  • Responsible for proper identification, categorization, isolation, remediation, and containerizing RCRA hazardous waste generated in production areas.
  • Supervise personnel under their leadership to ensure proper training for handling hazardous waste.
  • Understand and follow plant and divisional quality program.
  • Keep the lab prepared by standardizing reagents and notifying the Supervisor of supply shortages.
  • Notify the Supervisor/Manager of all discrepancies in results or other indications of analytical problems.
  • Provide the Supervisor with adequate information to maintain laboratory accuracy and response.
  • Provide maintenance and troubleshooting on instruments.
  • Must be fully certified on Master Level Lab Technician procedures within 12 months of hire date and be recertified biennially.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in HPLC and GC, along with training ability.
  • Play an active role in Division and Plant safety and quality programs.
