About The Position

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Avera St Mary's Hospital performs focused nursing assessments, gathers and records assessment data, and monitors and reports changes in a patient's condition. The LPN is accountable for all patients assigned and must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for the population served in the department. This position requires working under the supervision of a registered nurse or other authorized health care provider, and involves participating in the development and modification of patient-centered health care plans.

Requirements

• 3 years of LPN experience required.
• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Board of Nursing.
• An active license in the state of practice upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Practices nursing care under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice registered nurse, licensed physician, or other health care provider authorized by the state.
• Collects data and conducts a focused nursing assessment of the health status of a patient.
• Participates with other health care providers in the development and modification of the patient-centered health care plan.
• Implements nursing interventions within a patient-centered health care plan.
• Assists in the evaluation of responses to interventions.
• Provides for the maintenance of safe and effective nursing care rendered directly or indirectly.
• Advocates for the best interest of the patient.
• Communicates and collaborates with patients and members of the health care team.
• Assists with health counseling and teaching.
• Delegates and assigns nursing interventions to implement the plan of care.

Benefits

• Flat rate of $35.00/hr.
• Must work 72 hours in a 6 week schedule (equates to 624 hours annually, not to exceed 1248 hours in a 12 month period).
• Must work 6 weekend shifts per year.
