About The Position

The Fleet Technician position at Frito-Lay is crucial for maintaining and repairing fleet vehicles, ensuring the safety of drivers. This experienced role involves diagnosing mechanical issues, managing parts inventory, and performing preventative maintenance inspections. Technicians will work closely with entry-level mechanics and interact with various drivers, contributing to the overall efficiency of the fleet operations.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds or more with or without accommodation.
  • Capable of climbing, bending, reaching, stooping, kneeling, and stretching for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in tight spaces for extended periods.
  • Willingness to work on/under trucks for an entire shift (8 to 12 hours).

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair fleet vehicles to ensure safety and efficiency.
  • Diagnose mechanical issues and perform necessary repairs.
  • Manage parts inventory and charge parts and labor to work orders.
  • Assist entry-level mechanics with difficult repairs.
  • Build relationships with vendors for parts and labor estimates.
  • Interact with Frito-Lay drivers, including truck drivers and salespeople.
  • Schedule and prioritize work effectively.
  • Perform preventative maintenance inspections.
  • Work on brakes, U-joints, bearings, steering, suspension, and emissions checks.
  • Conduct light engine repairs on water pumps, injectors, and fuel pumps.
  • Read pneumatic and electrical drawings and troubleshoot electrical systems.
  • Perform body work including panels, frames, and doors.
