This position will serve as the Fleet Support Specialist for the Wilson County Equipment Unit. In this position you will coordinate with the Equipment Area Superintendent to obtain the equipment needed for user departments within equipment units or outside rental. You will be responsible for transferring intra and inter-divisional equipment to meet Division needs. Employee will monitor and report utilization of rental equipment and monitor and break down reports in SAP and report findings to Superintendent. You will provide Fleet Support with trend analysis and reports, monitor and report monthly shop safety audits according to NCDOT policy and procedures, monitor and recommend equipment safety training for Division Equipment Unit, supervise employees and complete yearly performance reviews, assist Superintendent with annual equipment buys, surplus sales, and auctions, manage new equipment acceptance and schedule operator training. You will serve as an assistant to the Equipment Area Superintendent and make decisions as necessary. Assist with all duties as assigned by the Superintendent including, but not limited to, conducting surplus equipment sales, new equipment buys, tracking of utilization of user departments and coordinating Division wide equipment repairs. You must possess thorough understanding of diagnosing problems with difficult and complex mechanical systems. You must create a positive work environment with a team approach and be able to communicate effectively. Position will be subject to responding to emergency situations after normal work hours and on weekends.
