About The Position

Katsam is seeking a Fleet & Strategic Sourcing Manager to lead enterprise-wide fleet operations across multiple operating regions. This role is responsible for building and scaling a centralized fleet function that maximizes asset uptime, ensures regulatory compliance, controls total cost of ownership, and supports multi-site expansion. This position combines hands-on operational leadership with strategic planning. The Fleet & Strategic Sourcing Manager will partner closely with Operations, Finance, and Safety to drive proactive maintenance strategies, vendor performance accountability, lifecycle planning, and capital forecasting. This is a high-impact leadership role critical to business continuity, operating margin protection and long-term operational scalability.

Requirements

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain, Automotive Technology, Transportation, or related field (Trade/Technical certification acceptable with experience)
  • 8+ years of progressive fleet leadership experience
  • Demonstrated experience supporting multi-site field operations
  • Strong OEM procurement and vendor negotiation background
  • Proven experience managing fleet budgets and capital planning
  • Working knowledge of IRP and IFTA compliance
  • Experience with Samsara, Fleetio, or comparable fleet management systems
  • Advanced Excel and financial analysis capabilities
  • Strong leadership presence with high accountability and operational rigor

Responsibilities

  • Oversee fleet maintenance operations across all company locations
  • Drive initiatives to improve uptime, reduce unplanned downtime, and standardize maintenance practices
  • Ensure preventative maintenance compliance based on OEM standards, engine hours, mileage, and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain audit-ready maintenance records across all jurisdictions
  • Standardize fleet processes and service-level expectations across locations
  • Oversee fleet registration, titling, tax compliance, emissions, IRP, and IFTA reporting in all states of operation
  • Lead vehicle sourcing strategy, upfit coordination, and capital planning
  • Negotiate pricing, warranty terms, service level agreements, and performance metrics with OEMs and vendors
  • Manage total cost of ownership analysis and lifecycle planning
  • Approve vendor estimates and invoices to ensure cost accuracy and accountability
  • Drive competitive sourcing initiatives and vendor rationalization strategies
  • Develop and manage fleet operating and capital budgets
  • Lead forecasting and variance analysis tied to fleet expenditures
  • Oversee warranty tracking and reimbursement efforts
  • Maximize OEM and supplier recovery opportunities
  • Implement controls to reduce repeat failures and avoidable repair costs
  • Monitor fuel management programs and fraud prevention efforts
  • Oversee implementation and utilization of Samsara and Fleetio platforms to improve asset visibility and performance
  • Establish KPI dashboards including: Downtime percentage PM compliance rate Cost per unit Repair cycle time Utilization metrics
  • Integrate telematics and diagnostics into predictive maintenance strategies
  • Prepare executive-level fleet performance reporting and recommendations
  • Ensure full compliance with DOT, OSHA, IRP, IFTA, and state regulatory requirements
  • Develop and document fleet SOPs and standardized maintenance procedures
  • Partner with Safety to analyze accident trends and implement corrective actions
  • Lead audit preparation and regulatory reporting
  • Align fleet strategy with company growth plans and operational expansion
  • Serve as internal fleet subject matter expert to Operations and Finance
  • Build scalable processes that support future geographic growth
  • Provide high-level internal customer service to field leadership
