About The Position

Fleet Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily planning, organizing, and evaluation of all tasks performed by fleet mechanics. Performs a wide variety of analytical duties to ensure optimal fleet operating costs and support the return of fleet assets with minimal downtime for the operation. This position measures work requirements and budgeting resources.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2 year certification from an accredited automotive or diesel school.
  • Minimum 6 years of related work experience.
  • Any equivalent combination of certifications, education, or experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities for the position.
  • Must be able to possess and maintain a valid Class ‘R’ Colorado driver’s license and have a satisfactory driving record at time of hire.

  • ASE Certification and or Certified Automotive Fleet Specialist CAFS Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and mentor fleet mechanics in standard fleet mechanical repairs and equipment operations within fleet services.
  • Hold daily team huddles for department and organizational updates and distribution of workloads.
  • Supervise maintenance on a variety of air, electric, diesel, gasoline and hydraulic equipment. Operate and supervise the use of test equipment, hand tools etc.
  • Manage and maintain the Fleet Management software systems to reflect accurate information for use in budget preparation, cost analysis, forecasting, and trending. Provide support to users and ensure data integrity. Provide training, technical and administrative support to the users of the Fleet system.
  • Supervise the work quality and quantity of the fleet mechanics which includes hiring, performance evaluations, training and development, disciplinary issues.
  • Performs quality control inspections on vehicles and equipment to ensure assets function within conformity to plans, work orders, and quality standards.
  • Train, mentor, and coach personnel in standard job methods and procedures, proper use of tools, equipment, and safe working practices.
  • Ensure employees adhere to the industry standards as well as State and Local codes as required.
  • Capacity plan based on business needs to align with the strategy of the organization.
  •  Develop metrics and set goals to support the overall operations of the organization and strategic initiatives.
  •  Prepare, maintain, and/or analyze budgets, work plans, and schedules. Review expenditures, assemble data for budget preparation and justification, and coordinate the production of monthly reports.
  •  Conducts research and analytical studies on issues or developments which have a significant impact on the fleet size and total cost of ownership.
  • Assist with the monitoring of contracts to ensure compliance for the Division.
  • Evaluate and maintain the accuracy and integrity of fleet related data as initiated by fleet services support personnel. Utilize thorough knowledge of the computerized fleet maintenance management information system.
