POSITION SUMMARY Fleet Service Technicians (FST's) primary duties are to repair and maintain the exhaust and brake systems, transmissions and differentials, driveline assemblies, hydraulic and electrical systems, and other components of Alaska Communications' fleet vehicles and other specialized equipment. These duties are performed in both an indoor shop environment and outside equipment yards as well as offsite emergency repairs on location. Goals & Performance Targets: Provide leadership to staff to achieve/exceed goals and performance targets, provide training to staff to consistently meet or exceed customer expectations in each customer touch point. Leadership: Monitor and evaluate staff goals and performance targets at least quarterly; provide appropriate training, coaching, or correct action if target goals are not achieved. Provides leadership and coaching to bring out and enhance the best attributes of each employee. Maintains a positive work environment, teaches and reinforces positive employee behaviors, immediately addresses and corrects unacceptable behaviors. Identifies workplace problems and takes corrective action in accordance with Company policy. Maintain shop by ensuring equipment and tools are kept neat and organized to maintain a safe workspace. Maintain Inventory Management: Manage inventory to include, but not limited to project inventory needs, receive inventory, audit inventory, prepare monthly inventory report, and resolve inventory variances. Conduct safety meetings as required by Company policy. Ensure employees comply with Company policies and procedures and takes appropriate action. Manage Carpool sign outs. Schedule and post yearly vacation bids. Evaluate and determine outcome of incidental vacation requests, taking into consideration business needs. Staffing: Determine staffing levels and needs per assigned location, evaluate for any OT and offer to work group. Manage and maintain OT list(s). Evaluate and determine outcome of incidental vacation requests, taking into consideration business needs. Recruit and/or assists to recruit qualified candidates for positions consistent with Company policies and procedures
