About The Position

Henrico County is seeking a Fleet Service and Repair Technician I to join the Department of General Services. This full-time position is essential for maintaining the safety and operational efficiency of County vehicles and equipment. The technician will perform routine servicing, repairs, and maintenance tasks, ensuring that all vehicles and equipment are in safe operating condition. Responsibilities include conducting annual safety inspections, creating and updating both paper and electronic records, and assisting other technicians as needed. The role requires a strong mechanical aptitude and a sound working knowledge of the safe use and care of various tools and diagnostic equipment. The technician will also need to adhere to complex oral and written instructions, including applicable EPA and hazardous waste regulations. The ideal candidate will possess excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, as well as the ability to interpret and follow instructions accurately. The position involves working both indoors and outdoors, often in noisy environments and adverse weather conditions. Safety is paramount, and the technician will be required to use personal protective equipment (PPE) consistently. The role may also require working alternate shifts, after hours, or being on-call, particularly during inclement weather cleanup. The technician will interact primarily with the CAM supervisor and staff, demonstrating good communication skills and establishing positive working relationships. This is a non-supervisory position that requires a sound work ethic and the ability to maintain an organized and safe work area.
