About The Position

The Fleet Safety Manager at Darigold, Inc. is responsible for overseeing safety, health, and regulatory compliance functions related to transportation. This role involves managing accident and insurance claims, conducting investigations, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. The position requires strong leadership skills to develop and implement safety initiatives and training programs, while fostering relationships with drivers and internal teams to enhance operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of transportation health and safety experience.
  • Compliance and training experience.
  • Investigation and problem-solving skills.
  • CDL experience desired.
  • Experience with in-vehicle monitoring systems.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proficiency with database, spreadsheet, and Microsoft products.

Responsibilities

  • Design, plan, structure, organize and direct safety and health initiatives to meet company objectives.
  • Oversee the use of driver performance metrics and associated coaching activities.
  • Develop and execute strategies and procedures associated with Fleet safety and Telematics in coordination with leadership.
  • Implement compliance initiatives regarding DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and state/local regulations.
  • Monitor compliance with Hours-of-Service regulations and manage auditing of driver logs.
  • Provide leadership to staff and assist in developing monitoring and tracking programs for compliance.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive driver safety training requirements and new hire training programs.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and record training activities and program effectiveness.
  • Develop and implement long-range accident prevention and cost control objectives.
  • Keep apprised of developments in federal and state safety and health laws affecting the company.
  • Manage accident and insurance claims, conducting post-accident and post-injury investigations.
  • Interact with customers in a cooperative and friendly manner, enhancing safety and operational efficiency.
