The Fleet Routing Coordinator is responsible for designing and optimizing daily routes for fleet vehicles to ensure timely, efficient, and cost-effective transportation operations. This role requires strong analytical and organizational skills to balance delivery/service requirements, customer expectations, vehicle capacity, and driver availability.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in logistics, transportation, or related field preferred.
  • Experience in route planning, dispatch, or fleet operations preferred.
  • Proficiency with routing and GPS software (e.g., Roadnet, Omnitracs, Verizon Connect, Route4Me).
  • Familiarity with transportation regulations and safety practices.
  • Strong problem-solving and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent communication and coordination abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including early mornings or evenings if needed.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, create, and optimize daily routes for deliveries, pickups, or service appointments using routing software and GPS tools.
  • Coordinate with dispatchers, drivers, and warehouse teams to ensure route plans are understood and executed efficiently.
  • Monitor real-time route progress and adjust routes as needed due to traffic, weather, road closures, or other disruptions.
  • Analyze route performance and suggest improvements to reduce fuel costs, delivery times, and vehicle wear.
  • Maintain accurate records of route assignments, delivery times, and deviations for reporting and compliance purposes.
  • Communicate route changes or issues promptly to all relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with driver hours-of-service regulations, load limits, and company policies.
  • Provide support for onboarding and training drivers on route procedures and GPS/telematics systems.
  • Collaborate with customer service teams to address route-related customer issues or delays.
