About The Position

The Fleet Operations Manager is responsible for the day-to-day execution and performance of fleet operations, ensuring operational efficiency, cost control, and service reliability across all assigned locations. This role sits directly under the Director of Fleet Operations and serves as the primary owner of operational execution. This role is responsible for converting strategy, policies, and performance targets into measurable results. The Manager leads frontline supervisors and team members, drives productivity, enforces standards, and proactively identifies operational risks and improvement opportunities. This role requires hands-on leadership, strong financial and operational acumen, and the ability to balance speed, quality, and profitability in a high-volume environment.

Requirements

  • Must possess and maintain a valid, unexpired driver's license.
  • Must possess and maintain a clean driving record.
  • 3–5 years of experience in fleet operations, logistics, rental operations, or a similar operational environment.
  • Prior experience supervising teams in a fast-paced, operational setting.
  • Strong working knowledge of operational metrics, labor planning, and cost controls.
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and translate insights into action.
  • High level of accountability, judgment, and operational discipline.
  • Proficiency with operational systems, scheduling tools, and basic reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily fleet operations to ensure vehicles are safe, compliant, available, and revenue-ready.
  • Execute operational strategies and initiatives established by the Director of Fleet Operations.
  • Monitor fleet utilization, downtime, turnaround times, labor efficiency, and operational KPIs; take corrective action as needed.
  • Ensure consistent application of company policies, SOPs, safety standards, and regulatory requirements across all fleet activities.
  • Directly supervise fleet supervisors and frontline team members, setting clear performance expectations and providing ongoing coaching and feedback.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, training, and scheduling to meet operational demand and performance targets.
  • Foster accountability, teamwork, and a results-driven culture across fleet operations.
  • Manage controllable operating expenses including labor, maintenance, and vendor costs.
  • Identify inefficiencies, waste, and process breakdowns; implement corrective and preventative improvements.
  • Support budget execution and provide operational insight and variance explanations to leadership.
  • Balance cost discipline with service quality, safety, and fleet readiness.
  • Partner with Counter Operations, Facilities Maintenance, Claims & Inventory, and Administrative teams to ensure smooth fleet flow and operational alignment.
  • Proactively identify and escalate systemic issues, risks, and resource constraints to the Director with recommended solutions.
  • Support peak-period planning, special projects, and operational pilots.
  • Address incidents, accidents, and operational disruptions in coordination with leadership.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation related to fleet operations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce downtime, and enhance customer experience.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and operational reviews that support scalability, growth, and operational resilience.
