About The Position

As a Fleet Mechanic, this role focuses on maintaining and repairing company power equipment, including tractors, trailers, refrigerated units, and auxiliary systems. In this role you will be completing preventive maintenance routines, scheduling daily shop repairs, and performing welding, electrical work, and equipment diagnostics. Fleet Mechanics enable warehouse operations through equipment upkeep while ensuring safe, defect-free vehicles for operators. The position also involves managing parts inventory and performing shop maintenance in collaboration with other mechanics and management.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1–2 years of experience in a fleet or commercial maintenance shop environment
  • Knowledge of tractors, trailers, refrigerated units, APUs, and standard repair protocols
  • Ability to follow legal guidelines, technical instructions, and safety rules
  • Physically capable of lifting heavy equipment and operating tools throughout long shifts
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently or in a team setting
  • Basic computer literacy, including diagnostic software, keyboard use, and email
  • Own basic hand tools required for day-to-day tasks
  • Available to work variable shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays

Nice To Haves

  • Experience repairing fleet equipment including trailers and refrigeration units
  • Familiarity with forklift and conveyor repairs, welding, and basic electrical maintenance
  • Demonstrated ability to assess equipment integrity against safety and operational standards
  • Schedules and completes daily maintenance tasks with limited supervision
  • Reviews inspection logs to prioritize service needs and ensure compliance
  • Monitors inventory levels and organizes tools and parts for efficient shop workflow
  • Capable of lifting equipment and supplies up to 100 pounds repeatedly
  • Comfortable performing repairs in environments with varying temperatures and noise
  • Proficient in using diagnostic software, email tools, and basic computer programs
  • Collaborates with other mechanics, vendors, and drivers as needed
  • Communicates maintenance issues clearly and adjusts to shifting priorities
  • Receives coaching constructively and supports a clean, safe work setting
