About The Position

The Fleet Mechanic reports to the Fleet & Mechanical Director. The manager will provide directions on the mechanical repairs and preventative maintenance on all company vehicles, forklifts, trailers, and other equipment required to meet operational requirements.

  • Valid Class ‘A’ Commercial Texas Driver’s License
  • Texas Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) that meets Company Policy
  • Valid Department of Transportation Medical Examiners Certificate
  • Knowledge of FMCSA’s rules and regulations pertaining to vehicle operation and driver requirements

  • One year of previous mechanical experience (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and make adjustments and repairs to vehicles and equipment including, but not limited to, diesel and gasoline engines, fuel systems, drive train components, pumps, brake systems, air conditioning systems and other systems, and assemblies on assigned vehicles and equipment.
  • Review daily work assignments and complete scheduled and assigned work within the parameters assigned by the Fleet & Mechanical Director.
  • Use an established, systematic approach to learn as much as possible about a vehicle or equipment problem; then proceed through a step-by-step diagnosis process to identify the problem and take the necessary action to make the proper repairs and solve the problem.
  • Perform repairs in accordance with applicable manuals, guidelines, and regulations to ensure vehicles are safe and reliable.
  • Complete preventative maintenance on all vehicles according to an established schedule. Preventive maintenance activities include but are not limited to inspection and diagnostic testing of vehicles, checking and adding or changing fluid levels, adjusting vehicle engines, mechanical and electrical systems replacing parts as required.
  • Conduct road tests as required to evaluate work performed and isolate maintenance problems.
  • Respond, as required, to roadside assistance calls to make temporary or permanent repairs or adjustments to vehicles and equipment.
  • Complete repairs as needed on the Vertique system.
  • Pick up and deliver vehicles and equipment as required.
  • Diagnose and perform electrical, hydraulic, preventative maintenance and other repairs on forklifts.
  • Perform welding work on vehicles, equipment and tools as required.
  • Complete vehicle maintenance records to ensure all work is annotated properly.
  • Keep work area, shop, vehicle wash facility, and fuel island neat, clean and orderly at all times.
  • Ensure proper safety precautions are observed.
  • Practice “Safety Always” by adhering to safe working practices, Company policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Report all accidents and/or on-the-job injuries to your supervisor, a member of management, or Human Resources in accordance with the protocol listed in the Faust Employee handbook.
  • Adhere to Faust’s safety training policy and procedures.
  • Comply with all relevant company policies and procedures outlined in Faust Employee handbook.
