About The Position

As a Fleet Mechanic with A National Transit, you will play a critical role in ensuring all our vehicles are safe and ready for daily rollout. Your responsibilities will include: Starting vehicles for rollout. Leading preventative maintenance (PMs), safety inspections, and annual maintenance inspections. Diagnosing and performing all phases of vehicle and equipment repair, including brakes, suspensions, engines, drivetrains, transmissions, and other repairs. Ensuring work orders are completed accurately. Assisting with road calls and emergency services as necessary. Entering and maintaining information in FA Suites. Working with lot attendants to maintain vehicle readiness and safety. Tracking oil samples. Reporting shop needs and parts. Cleaning the garage and work area. Ensuring necessary vehicles are available for compliance. Checking DVIR repairs.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years old with a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years of maintenance experience working on vehicles inside a shop.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to read and interpret safety documents, blueprints, schematics, and other mechanical diagrams.
  • Ability to pass a DOT physical examination and drug test.
  • Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Maintenance experience with all types of heavy-duty transit equipment.
  • Appropriate Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification preferred.
  • Strong electrical diagnostic skills.
