About The Position

Bob's Discount Furniture is seeking an experienced mechanic to maintain our growing fleet of Freightliner trucks along with the trailers. The Fleet Mechanic is responsible for timely completion of routine maintenance and emergency repairs of the Distribution Center truck fleet. Schedule shop work, order parts, and maintain proper documentation for compliance issues. Other responsibilities include: Perform scheduled routine maintenance and diagnostics including but not limited to: Tire changes/rotations, Electrical and mechanical system checks, etc. Perform emergency repairs as identified by drivers and inspections i.e. brakes, vehicle lighting, etc. Proficiently perform stick welding operations when and where required including but not limited to: Cutting, Braising, and Fabricating. Maintain a clean and safe work area. Replace worn and/or malfunctioning parts including ordering replacement parts/materials. Advise management of all safety related concerns. Requirements

  • Excellent knowledge of transportation equipment (specifications, maintenance, operational requirements).
  • Ability to schedule shop work, order parts, maintain proper documentation for compliance issues, and ensure fleet is road worthy as required.
  • Must be certifiable and proficient in Air Brake systems.
  • Solid welding proficiency with mig and stick.
  • Must be able to mount, dismount and patch truck tires.
  • Basic knowledge and competence on: Vehicle Wiring, Alternators, Starters, Relays, fuel solenoids and other related parts.
  • Experience working on diesel engines, heavy trucks and equipment (trailers) is required.
  • Ability to communicate proactively and effectively including comprehending and communicating detailed instructions, reading and writing, and having knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures as required by the position.
  • Must be at least 18 years old to be considered for employment with Bob’s.
