About The Position

The Philadelphia Corporation for Aging (PCA) is seeking a Fleet Mechanic to join our team. This full-time position is responsible for the maintenance and repair of the Home Delivered Meals (HDML) vehicles, ensuring that they are operational for daily delivery routes. The Fleet Mechanic will perform authorized on-site vehicle repairs, maintain documentation of repairs, and communicate effectively with the Transportation Manager and other stakeholders. The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, along with 3 to 5 years of experience in auto maintenance and repair. ASE certifications in brakes, steering/suspension, electrical, and refrigeration/air conditioning are preferred. The position is based at the PCA Main Building in Philadelphia, PA.

Requirements

  • High school Diploma, GED, or equivalent education and experience.
  • 3 to 5 years' experience in auto maintenance and repair.
  • Must provide own hand tools.
  • Valid driver's license with no accidents or violations in the past three years.
  • Must pass Keystone AAA driving test, physical exam, drug and alcohol screening, and criminal background check.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written.

Nice To Haves

  • ASE certifications in brakes, steering/suspension, electrical, and refrigeration/air conditioning.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for maintenance and repair of the Home Delivered Meals (HDML) vehicles.
  • Prioritize daily HDML vehicle inspections for conditions that may prevent meal delivery.
  • Perform authorized on-site vehicle repairs including brake work, fluid changes, and preventive maintenance.
  • Document vehicle repairs, parts usage, and submit maintenance reports to PCA.
  • Conduct refrigeration preventive maintenance checks on PCA 'Hotshot' vehicles.
  • Maintain communication with the Transportation Manager regarding repairs and inventory.
  • Coordinate communication regarding vehicle repairs with contractors and vendors.
  • Report all observed PCA fleet vehicle damage and cooperate in accident reporting.
  • Inventory all Maintenance Bay Service equipment and supplies.
  • Ensure proper disposal of waste fluids according to regulations.
  • Attend meetings as required.
  • Perform other duties as required by PCA Transportation Manager.
