A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A FLEET MECHANIC LEAD As a Fleet Mechanic Lead, you are the leader in the shop who provides leadership for other mechanics. Your style of management fosters teamwork, respect, accountability, and trust. You and your team ensure, through regular preventative maintenance, that our fleet of diesel trucks, trailers, forklifts, and other heavy equipment operate as intended. So that operators, shippers, and receivers always have equipment at the ready that is roadworthy and in good working condition, you troubleshoot issues and perform repairs. You accurately interpret repair manuals and work orders. You ensure that priorities are met on a daily and weekly basis. Regularly, you review driver vehicle inspection reports. On occasion, you need to answer roadside calls for disabled vehicles. You keep your work environment clean and organized. Passionate about safety, you make sure that your team follows all company rules and regulations. Though you do spend a lot of time on the floor, you also keep up on your administrative tasks such as compiling the truck shop's work schedule and completing any maintenance documentation in our repair software program. You take pride in keeping our complex machinery running efficiently!

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Authorized to work in the US
  • Class A CDL with tanker endorsement
  • Advanced knowledge of vehicle and heavy equipment mechanical maintenance and operations
  • Ability to service and diagnose brakes
  • AC Certification
  • Ability to service and diagnose diesel trucks (tractor/trailers) and power-train mechanics
  • Ability to service and diagnose hydraulic systems and components
  • Good driving record
  • Ability to lift up to 100 lbs
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
  • Leadership ability
  • Detail-oriented
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Self-starter
  • Effectively prioritize multiple tasks
  • Enjoy coaching and mentoring others
  • Highly organized with superior time management skills
