About The Position

Join Serco as a Fleet Mechanic I in Winchester, KY! Serco supports a large municipal and utility fleet (4,000+ units) performing preventative maintenance, diagnosing and repair of a diverse equipment set (light, medium and heavy duty diesel/gas cars/trucks; off-road construction equipment, snow plows, ATVs, Motorcycles, Generators, VAC trucks, and ancillary equipment). As Fleet Mechanic I, you can expect to: Perform tire inspections, repairs, and changes in the shop and on the road side for cars, pick-ups, trucks and off-road equipment. Perform operational and functional inspections, repairs and maintenance on fleet vehicles and equipment Perform inspections, repair and maintenance operations on a variety of powered, non-powered equipment, and vehicles Ability to work on a diverse equipment set, which includes mowers, cranes, backhoes, trailers, trenchers, bulldozers, excavators, wood chippers, asphalt laying equipment, diggers and pole setting equipment, aerial manlifts, cranes, medium and heavy trucks and mounted/non-mounted attachments. Operate and perform diagnosis on equipment, maintain and repair hydraulic systems, routes and replaces hydraulic lines, check system for leaks and proper operation. Perform diagnosis and repair complex electrical systems. Perform minor welding repairs when required in a field environment. Perform routine vehicle and equipment preventive maintenance inspections checking, DOT inspections and replaces fluids, checks lights and other electrical system components, etc. Provide clear and accurate information when entering work order data into a fleet maintenance system. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Work under general supervision and is a self-starter. The list of duties does not include ALL duties that may be assigned to this position.

Requirements

  • At least 1 - 4 years of related experience
  • High school diploma or its equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record
  • Basic Windows System and Microsoft Office Knowledge
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with customers
  • Must possess necessary skills to operate and interpret diagnostic equipment
  • Candidates must provide common technician hand tools

Nice To Haves

  • Diesel or Automotive vocational/technical school diploma or certifications
  • Tire Technician training and certification a plus
  • ASE Certifications preferred or capable of gaining certifications within 12 months of hire.
  • Hydraulic experience preferred
  • Welding Certification and/or 1 to 2 years of experience
