About The Position

Spee Dee Delivery is a family owned and operated company that was started in 1978 by Donald and Sylvia Weeres. Our core business is in standard, next-day, ground delivery. The corporate headquarters and main sort facility is located in St. Cloud, MN. We currently employ over 1,800 employees company wide and over the years have expanded throughout the Midwest. Job Summary The Fleet Manager coordinates daily fleet and driver activities, supporting vehicle availability, maintenance, compliance, and safe operations.

Requirements

  • Excellent management skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of fleet management and operations
  • Ability to influence, develop and maintain good working relationships across a variety of functional areas and customers
  • Thorough understanding of applicable federal, state, local, and company safety policies
  • Proficient with computer-based management systems and Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to operate a manual transmission vehicle or be willing to learn
  • At least 21 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Must hold a valid CDL Class A driver's license OR successfully complete Company paid CDL training program
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
  • Ability to pass a DOT physical exam
  • Must be able to spend a minimum of eight hours on feet
  • Work environment involves ability to bend, kneel, crouch, walk, and drive
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening and a criminal background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Post secondary education in the automotive or heavy-duty field preferred
  • 5+ years of mechanical experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily and long-term management of the company's commercial vehicle fleet, including tractors, trailers, and related equipment.
  • Develop and implement fleet strategies related to maintenance, utilization, replacement cycles, and asset optimization.
  • Establish and oversee preventative maintenance and inspection programs in compliance with FMCSA, DOT, and state regulations.
  • Review DVIRs, maintenance records, and inspection reports; ensure timely corrective actions.
  • Oversee vendor relationships for repairs, towing, leasing, and parts procurement.
  • Manage breakdown response and roadside assistance escalation.
  • Collaborate with Safety and HR on driver compliance issues related to equipment, inspections, and safety practices.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable DOT/FMCSA regulations, including vehicle inspections, maintenance files, and audit readiness.
  • Participate in accident investigations, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Oversee fleet management systems, ELD-related equipment (vehicle side), telematics, and maintenance software.
  • Analyze fleet performance metrics and present findings to leadership.
  • Support implementation of new fleet technologies and process improvements.
  • Hire, train, discipline and onboard new staff
  • Perform other duties as assigned
