About The Position

The Fleet Manager is responsible for leading all fleet operations across Matador, Chaparral, and Viva distribution centers. This role ensures maximum fleet uptime, cost efficiency, safety compliance, and operational readiness to support daily route execution and long-term growth toward JECO’s 10 million case objective. This position plays a critical role in standardizing fleet practices across all locations while continuing to support product and inventory operations. The role partners closely with the Director of Operations (Matador & JECO TX), Operations Managers, Director of Safety, and Sales leadership to drive operational excellence and scalable systems across the network.

Requirements

  • Oversee product ordering to ensure sufficient inventory levels aligned with DOH targets.
  • Maintain forecasting models to predict product demand.
  • Coordinate inter-company deliveries to ensure timely stock replenishment.
  • Work with vendors to optimize purchasing strategies and cost-effectiveness.
  • Partner with Sales to support promotional planning and execution.

  • Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.
  • Work in both indoor and outdoor weather conditions.
  • DOT medical card required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all preventative maintenance (PM) programs across light-, medium-, and heavy-duty fleet.
  • Ensure maximum fleet uptime to support uninterrupted route execution.
  • Manage repair workflows, reducing downtime and controlling repair cycle times.
  • Oversee readiness of route trucks, bulk delivery trucks, and repack/support vehicles.
  • Partner with warehouse teams to ensure daily fleet readiness and accountability.
  • Ensure safety/service inspections of vehicles and prevent unsafe vehicles from being released.
  • Coordinate emergency road calls and vehicle towing when necessary.
  • Manage and optimize fleet-related expenses including repairs, maintenance, fuel, and parts procurement.
  • Evaluate, onboard, and manage local and regional service providers.
  • Establish standard labor rates and pricing agreements across markets.
  • Ensure consistency in vendor usage and performance across all companies.
  • Maintain and manage fleet maintenance budgets and monthly reporting.
  • Own and report on key fleet performance metrics including: Cost per mile / cost per case Fleet downtime percentage Preventative maintenance compliance Accident frequency and severity
  • Utilize telematics systems (Motive preferred) to: Monitor driver behavior and vehicle performance Improve safety and operational efficiency Reduce fuel consumption and maintenance costs Provide regular reporting and insights to executive leadership.
  • Ensure full compliance with DOT regulations, OSHA standards, and company safety policies.
  • Oversee vehicle registrations, licensing, and documentation.
  • Lead safety audits and inspections.
  • Manage accident reporting, investigation, and claims processes.
  • Partner with Safety leadership to reduce risk and improve fleet safety performance.
  • Serve as a safety champion, driving accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Standardize fleet processes across Matador, Chaparral, and Viva, including: Preventative maintenance schedules Vendor selection and usage Compliance tracking and reporting
