Stabil Drill is currently seeking a Full-Time Fleet Manager to join our team in Conroe, Texas. The Fleet Manager is responsible for the safe, complaint, and cost-effective operation of the company’s 18-wheeler trucking fleet. This role oversees all aspects of fleet operations including DOT compliance, driver qualifications, vehicle maintenance, regulatory adherence, and fleet utilization. The Fleet Manager will also lead cost analysis, budgeting, and optimization of fleet deployment to support regional business activities and operational demands. This position requires a strong understanding of federal and state transportation regulations, hands-on fleet management experience, and the ability to analyze data to drive operational and financial improvements.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in fleet management, transportation operations, or logistics (18-wheeler or heavy truck fleet required).
  • Strong working knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, and transportation compliance requirements .
  • Experience managing vehicle maintenance programs and vendor relationships.
  • Proven ability to analyze costs, develop budgets, and drive operational efficiencies.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with fleet management software, telematics, and Microsoft Office (Excel required).

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Transportation Management, Business, or related field.
  • Experience supporting regional or multi-site operations.
  • Knowledge of safety programs, accident investigation, and insurance claims management.
  • CDL or prior commercial driving experience a plus (not required).

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the company’s vehicle fleet to ensure safety, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Oversee fleet utilization and deployment to support regional operations, job sites, and business needs.
  • Establish and maintain fleet policies, procedures, and operating standards.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for fleet-related matters across operations, logistics, and leadership teams.
  • Ensure full compliance with all applicable DOT, FMCSA, and state transportation regulations.
  • Maintain driver qualification files, hours-of-service records, drug & alcohol testing compliance, and vehicle inspection documentation.
  • Monitor and manage DOT audits, roadside inspections, and regulatory reporting.
  • Stay current on changes in transportation laws and regulations and proactively implement required updates.
  • Oversee driver onboarding, qualification, licensing, and ongoing compliance requirements.
  • Coordinate driver training related to safety, compliance, and company policies.
  • Support performance management, incident investigation, and corrective action as needed.
  • Partner with HR and operations leadership on driver staffing, retention, and compliance matters.
  • Develop and manage preventive maintenance programs to ensure fleet safety and minimize downtime.
  • Coordinate repairs, inspections, and service schedules with internal teams and external vendors.
  • Manage relationships with maintenance providers, dealerships, and parts suppliers.
  • Track vehicle lifecycle, warranties, registrations, and asset replacement planning.
  • Analyze fleet-related costs including fuel, maintenance, repairs, insurance, leasing, and operating expenses.
  • Develop and manage fleet budgets; identify cost-saving opportunities and efficiency improvements.
  • Track and report KPIs such as cost per mile, utilization rates, downtime, and maintenance trends.
  • Support forecasting and strategic decisions related to fleet expansion, replacement, or outsourcing.
  • Lead fleet safety initiatives to reduce accidents, violations, and liability exposure.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and claims; coordinate corrective actions and reporting.
  • Partner with insurance providers and internal stakeholders on claims management and risk reduction.
  • Promote a strong culture of safety and compliance across all fleet operations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve fleet efficiency, technology utilization, and operational processes.
  • Evaluate and implement fleet management systems, telematics, and reporting tools as appropriate.
  • Provide regular reporting and insights to leadership on fleet performance, risks, and opportunities.
